NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Houston, TX, United States, 10/01/2007 - The Bamaz (a.k.a the Bama Boyz) have now launched their own Indie label, My Turn Entertainment. The first release will be their very own debut album entitled, “Meet The Bamaz”. The Bama Boyz have worked with artists such as Beyonce & Destiny’s Child.
After working with top artists such as Beyonce, Destiny’s Child, Sunshine Anderson, Trinitee 5:7, Mike Jones, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Kelly Rowland, the Bamaz (a.k.a the Bama Boyz) have now launched their own Indie label, My Turn Entertainment and their new and improved website Bama-Boyz.com. The first release will be their very own debut album entitled, “Meet The Bamaz”. “Meet the Bamaz” is a story of 3 young men meeting the world, meeting themselves, meeting difficult people, meeting cool people that later became difficult, and meeting religion for the first time as adults (based on a true story). Leading with the controversial single, “Close Your Legs,” the Bamaz deliver a fusion of R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul & Funk with a hint of Latin and Reggae to make a complete musical experience.
The talented trio of Eddie “E-Trez” Smith III, Jesse Rankins, and Jonathan Wells, came to Houston four years ago to work an internship with Music World Music and Mathew Knowles. After several very impressive encounters with Mr. Knowles, he offered them a production and management deal. In just a short period of time, their move from Montgomery, AL, to Houston, TX began to pay off. They have also scored several commercials and movies such as “Pink Panther,” “Save the Last Dance 2,” “Home for the Holidays” (Wal-Mart Commercial feat DC3), Ford Motors Fusion TV Commercial, “Bring It On Yet Again,” “Roll Bounce,” “Chancers” (A UK Reality Series, in which they also made appearances). At times they couldn’t believe that they were in Houston for the long haul and not turning around after a few months just to return back to Alabama A&M where the Bamaz all attended college together. “When we first came into this industry everyone called us “Bamas” for 2 reasons: The most obvious one is that we are from Montgomery, Alabama. The second was because they didn’t think we knew anything about the music business or success (for those that don’t know, some people often refer to other people as “Bamas” when they feel that the people are either slow or country or both). At first we would get offended…but after awhile we reversed that stereotype and started using it to our advantage thus adapting the name “The Bamaz”, says Eddie of the Bamaz.
After recently hosting Beyonce’s UK Tour, the next big steps for the Bamaz are to begin rehearsing for live performances and preparing for a variety of nationwide shows. With an album full of potential hit singles, the Bamaz expect to bring their music to life with live performances on stage at clubs, colleges, festivals and arenas in major cities across the US and abroad. They are currently booking shows in Texas and Alabama. They are available for booking beginning October 15, 2007.

Joanna Mazewski - Celebrity News Service Editor New York, NY (BANG) - Mariah Carey has traced her family tree, and discovered she is related to Chelsea soccer star Ashley Cole. The singer decided to trace her roots to find out if she was related to 'White Christmas' legend Nat King Cole, but instead found a connection to English defender Ashley.
Mariah said: "It's fascinating. My grandmother was a Cole before she married and it turns out she comes from the same area of Alabama as Ashley's ancestors - the Deep South.
"We are still looking into it to see if we're also related to Nat King Cole. I'm such a huge fan of his. That would be wonderful, and would also explain so much."
A friend of Ashley's revealed he is thrilled to hear about the connection, and said: "Ashley is chuffed to bits to hear that they're related. He's always been a big fan of Mariah's, and grew up listening to jazz legends like Nat King Cole."
Mariah, 37, also revealed she would probably still be with her ex-husband, Tommy Mottola, if he hadn't been so strict with her.
She said: "I understand him not wanting me to go out and hang out all night, but going to a spa with friends every now and then, or doing things on my own would have made a world of difference. I'd probably still be with him if I had."
"Maybe it's for my own good that I wasn't allowed to do those things, but that's not how it felt - I felt like suddenly I had a strict father."
"I didn't think I was going to leave forever. Had it been, 'Go be by yourself, you've been with me since you were a kid, let's separate for a while', I probably would have."
